Open Source Summit ‘24 Code of Conduct

Introduction

The Open Source Summit ‘24 (“OSS24”) is dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all attendees, speakers, volunteers, sponsors, and staff. This code of conduct outlines our expectations for respectful and professional behavior throughout the event.

Expected Behavior

  • Treat everyone with respect: This includes attendees of all backgrounds, experiences, and beliefs.
  • Be professional: Avoid offensive language, discrimination, harassment, or intimidation.
  • Embrace diversity: We celebrate the diversity of our community and encourage open communication and collaboration.
  • Respect physical boundaries: Maintain appropriate physical space and avoid unwanted physical contact.
  • Contribute positively: Share your knowledge and expertise constructively, and be open to learning from others.
  • Respect intellectual property: Do not share or distribute copyrighted materials without permission.

Unacceptable Behavior

  • Harassment: This includes any unwelcome advances, verbal abuse, threats, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Cyberbullying: Using online platforms to harass or intimidate others.
  • Disruption: Interfering with presentations, workshops, or other event activities.
  • Unwanted photography or recording: Recording or photographing others without their consent.
  • Theft or vandalism: Damaging or stealing property belonging to the event or attendees.
  • Cheating or plagiarism: Dishonestly claiming work as your own.

Reporting Violations

If you experience or witness a violation of this code of conduct, please report it immediately to a member of the event staff or volunteer. You may report anonymously if you prefer. Staff and volunteers will investigate all reports and take appropriate action, which may include verbal warnings, removal from the event, or reporting to law enforcement.

Confidentiality

We will treat all reports of misconduct with confidentiality, to the extent possible.

Changes to this Code of Conduct

We reserve the right to update this code of conduct at any time. We encourage you to review it periodically.
